Ludhiana: Fire dept launches safety audit at hospitality establishments
Ludhiana, June 5 -- The fire department on Thursday launched a citywide survey of hotels, guest houses and restaurants to assess fire safety compliance and emergency preparedness, amid heightened concern following the devastating fire at a hotel in Delhi that claimed 21 lives.
As part of the exercise, the department has sought a comprehensive list of hospitality establishments from the municipal town planner's office to identify properties operating without mandatory fire safety clearances or adequate firefighting arrangements.
Officials said the survey will focus on verifying whether establishments possess valid no objection certificates (NOCs), maintain functional firefighting equipment and comply with prescribed fire safety norms.
