Ludhiana, Aug. 12 -- Fearing another cave-in during the ongoing monsoon, the municipal corporation has deferred permanent repairs and blacktopping of the road near Onn Hotel at Sagoo Chowk, where a section collapsed on June 26. The damaged stretch has only received temporary repairs so far.

The cave-in, measuring around 10 feet in width and 12 feet in depth, was caused by soil erosion beneath the road after a sewer breach. According to the MC, a 12-inch water-supply pipe running beneath the road had developed cracks at several points, causing water to leak into the surrounding soil.
