India, Sept. 7 -- A double homicide investigation is underway after the bodies of two women were found at a Sumter County home in the Shiloh Community last Wednesday. Sumter County Coroner Robbie Baker identified the victims as 55-year-old Lola Hurt and her daughter, 41-year-old Melony Johnson, per WIS10.

Here are five things to know about the case:

The close-knit community was shaken by the brutal murders. Neighbor Rosalynne Kauffman watched as blue lights rushed down Pudding Swamp Road Wednesday afternoon where Lola and Melony's bodies were found.

"Just total shock," Kauffman said, according to WIS10. "Pretty much everybody knows everybody, and it's a surprise that it happened here."
