Leave 'denied over bribe', teacher delivers stillborn
RANCHI, July 28 -- A government school teacher delivered a stillborn child allegedly after district education officials withheld her application for child care leave while demanding a Rs.50,000 bribe in Jharkhand's Palamu district, her husband has alleged. District authorities have, however, denied the charges, but suspended one official and transferred another.
Complainant Mukesh Kumar Tiwari, a police officer posted in Hazaribagh, has requested a murder probe against Palamu district education officer Sandeep Kumar and two clerks, Ishwari Dayal Ram and Arun Kumar Giri.
