Lawyers' group CJAR seeks FIR against Justice Yashwant Varma over unaccounted cash
India, Aug. 20 -- The Campaign for Judicial Accountability and Reform (CJAR) has called for an FIR against former Allahabad high court judge Justice Yashwant Varma, saying the charges established against him could form the basis for criminal proceedings.
The CJAR is an Indian advocacy group of lawyers, activists, and citizens which works towards making the judiciary more transparent and responsible.
CJAR has urged the Chief Justice of India to direct the Delhi Police to register an FIR and investigate the unaccounted cash found at Justice Varma's official residence, according to a report by Livelaw. It also called for the investigation to be overseen by the Supreme Court to help restore public confidence in the judiciary.
