India, Sept. 24 -- Lawrence Tanter, long term public announcer of the Los Angeles Lakers, died at 76. The NBA team posted a message for Tanter, who was better known as Voice of the Lakers, on September 23.

"We are deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of legendary Lakers public address announcer Lawrence Tanter. For 43 years, LT's voice served as the soundtrack to Lakers games at the arena. He will be remembered as a cherished member of the Lakers family," the post read.

"Lawrence Tanter, forever in our hearts as a member of the Lakers family," they added.

An exact cause of death for Lawrence Tanter was not announced in the social media statement put out by the Lakers. However, Tanter had suffered a stroke in March 2026 and ...
