India, July 8 -- Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi has been charged in the US as part of a crackdown on transnational organised groups based in India, with prosecutors alleging that he directed murders, extortion, kidnappings and drug trafficking from his jail cell, according to a report in the LA Times. Prosecutors in California said that 24 alleged members of transnational criminal groups across the US, Canada and Europe have been arrested, "including several who are believed to be tied" to the 2023 assassination of pro-Khalistan figure Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada. Bishnoi, 33, is currently lodged in a Gujarat jail in connection with multiple criminal cases.htc
