India, Sept. 25 -- The Karnataka government on Thursday constituted a five member special investigation team (SIT) to reinvestigate the 2012 rape and murder of 17 year old Sowjanya in Dharmasthala, giving the team three months to complete the probe and submit its report to the competent court.

The SIT will be headed by inspector general of police (IGP) N Shashi Kumar. Its other members are C H Sudheer Kumar Reddy, Mangaluru City police commissioner; Nisha James, superintendent of police, Intelligence; Lokesh Jagalsar, superintendent of police, CID; and Venkatesh Prasanna, additional superintendent of police, Bengaluru Rural.
