India, April 15 -- A special court for MPs and MLAs on Wednesday convicted Congress MLA Vinay Kulkarni and 18 others for the 2016 murder of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Yogesh Gowda in Karnataka Dharwad city.

Special Judge Santhosh Gajanan Bhat delivered the judgment in the presence of Kulkarni and the other accused. While 19 individuals were found guilty, the court acquitted two others.

The court is scheduled to pronounce the quantum of punishment on Thursday.

According to the prosecution, Gowda was attacked by a group of assailants in a planned act. Kulkarni, who was serving as a minister in the state government and was the district in-charge minister at the time, was accused of being part of the conspiracy. He has been listed...
