Karnataka civil service chairman suspended over 'illegal selection' of daughters
India, July 13 -- Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot on Monday suspended Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) Chairman Shivashankarappa S Sahukar over allegations that he facilitated the illegal selection of his two daughters as Industrial Extension Officers.
Gehlot also recommended to the President that the matter be referred to the Supreme Court under Article 317(1) of the Constitution for an inquiry into the allegations, according to news agency PTI.
The Governor further directed that the senior-most member of the Commission discharge the functions of the KPSC chairman until further orders, saying the suspension was necessary to ensure a fair and impartial investigation.
