Haridwar, July 31 -- The annual Shravan Kanwar Yatra commenced on Thursday, with thousands of devotees arriving in Haridwar, Uttarakhand.
Sound levels of DJ systems have been capped at 75 decibels, and only devotional and religious songs will be allowed, said Uttarakhand officials aware of the preparations.
Police said decorated Kanwars exceeding 12 feet in height will not be permitted.
The administration is expecting more than 50 million devotees during the yatra, which will culminate on August 11. P6
