India, Sept. 25 -- The Cauvery Water Management Authority (CWMA) on Thursday directed Karnataka to release 4,000 cusecs of Cauvery water per day to Tamil Nadu for 15 days from September 25. The direction followed a recommendation by the Cauvery Water Regulation Committee (CWRC) at its meeting in Delhi. Karnataka chief minister D K Shivakumar said the state would challenge the order, citing weak inflows into reservoirs and declining rainfall in the Cauvery catchment.
