Jha's defeat in RS polls revives cross-voting woes for Cong
New Delhi, June 20 -- Congress's Rajya Sabha candidate Pranav Jha, who rose through the ranks of the party, became the latest victim of cross voting, which has marred the party's prospects at least four times in the recent past.
In February 2024, the Congress's top legal adviser Abhishek Singhvi lost his Rajya Sabha bid from the party-ruled Himachal Pradesh to BJP candidate Harsh Mahajan after 10 Congress lawmakers switched sides and cross-voted. It was a shocking defeat for the party as it had enough votes to secure Singhvi's victory for the single seat that went to poll.
