LUCKNOW, Sept. 7 -- After missing a berth in the Indian squad for the T20 Asia Cup starting in the UAE on Tuesday, Shreyas Iyer was named skipper of the India A squad that will play two four-day games against Australia A in Lucknow later this month. With India scheduled to play two Tests against West Indies at the start of October and later against South Africa, both on home turf, the India A experience could help Iyer stage a comeback into the senior squad. The multi-day games also mark a return of Iyer to India's red-ball setup. The four-day games will be played from September 16 and 23 at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee stadium here, the BCCI release said.
