India, Sept. 4 -- The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) launched its state-of-the-art imaging satellite from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh at 2:55am IST on Friday, September 4.

ISRO's Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV-17) is taking the Earth observation spacecraft, named EOS-05, to be launched into the Geosynchronous orbit - the first of its kind in India, PIT reported.

The 51.7 metre tall GSLV 17 rocket lifted off from the second launch pad of the Satish Dhawan Space Center in 15 seconds.
