India, April 4 -- The Iranian military has claimed that its forces successfully targeted and brought down a US A-10 ground attack aircraft. Iranian authorities shared a video, purportedly capturing the moment an American A-10 warplane is struck by an air defence missile fired by Iran's integrated air defence system has been shared by the Consulate General of Iran in Mumbai.

According to reports, A-10 Warthog fighter jet crashed near the Strait of Hormuz on Friday, around the same time an Air Force F-15E was reportedly shot down over Iran. The lone pilot of the A-10 was said to have been rescued.

The footage shows the A-10 being hit mid-air, followed by am explosion.
