India, Aug. 12 -- Delhi Capitals wicketkeeper-batter Abishek Porel was arrested in West Bengal's Hooghly district on Tuesday after a medical student accused him of rape, police said. A court in Chinsurah denied Porel bail and remanded him to three-day police custody. The arrest followed a July 14 Calcutta High Court order directing police to arrest Porel and seize his electronic devices. A police officer said the complainant, a third-year medical student, alleged that Porel sexually assaulted and abused her after promising to marry her following their first meeting in 2023. In her plea before the HC, the woman also alleged that Porel threatened to make photographs of their intimate moments public.htc
