India, Oct. 25 -- The Special Investigation Team probing the sexual assault case registered an eighth case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, against R Veeramani, chairman, Gem Group of Companies, police said on Sunday.

The case was registered based on a complaint received by the SIT from a victim who was a minor at the time of the alleged offence.

According to the police, the survivor alleged that she was sexually assaulted by Veeramani when she was a minor a few years ago at his residence in Gopalapuram in he city.

An official said that while seven cases were already pending against Veeramani, the eighth case was booked on October 21, 2026.
