India, Oct. 23 -- An Indian-origin man from California has been arrested and charged with murder following the discovery of his wife's charred remains. Gurinder Gill, 28, had earlier claimed that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers had taken his wife from their residence.

On October 14, authorities apprehended Gill after determining that human remains discovered in neighboring El Dorado County belonged to Jasmine Gill, 30, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office.

Jasmine Gill was last seen at the couple's home in Sacramento on September 30. When her cousin reported her missing on October 4, it triggered an official investigation into what happened to her.
