India, Oct. 27 -- The Election Commission of India (EC) held a press conference on October 27 to share details of the nationwide Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls.
It will start with 12 states in what is being seen as Phase 2 of SIR. The SIR held in Bihar recently was Phase 1, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar announced.
The last SIR was held over two decades ago, Gyanesh Kumar said at the Monday press conference in New Delhi. He said SIR has been carried out eight times between 1951 and 2004.
