India slams PoK deaths, says Pak must be held accountable
New Delhi, June 10 -- India on Tuesday dismissed accusations from Pakistani authorities of involvement in violent protests in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) that have left 11 people dead, and urged the world community to hold Islamabad accountable for its misdeeds and human rights abuses.
Seven civilians and four policemen were killed during clashes between police and protesters belonging to the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) at Rawalakot in PoK on Sunday. The Pakistan government has outlawed JAAC, which has been spearheading protests to demand the abolition of 12 seats for refugees in the PoK assembly ahead of elections scheduled for July 27.
