India delay training by an hour due to lunar eclipse
Mumbai, March 4 -- The Indian team delayed their evening practice session by an hour, waiting for a lunar eclipse to pass.
According to Hindu belief, an eclipse is considered inauspicious and it seemed the Indian team did not want any bad omen for their World Cup campaign ahead of their semi-final against England at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday.
Floodlights at the Wankhede Stadium were switched on closer to 7pm, after the eclipse had concluded, by which time players started trooping in for the nets session.
The T20 World Cup co-hosts were earlier supposed to train in the evening slot of 6 to 9pm.
Some members of the support staff had arrived on the field before the players and a few coaches but the action started after some delay.
