Bhubaneswar/Ranchi/Hyderabad/New Delhi/siliguri, Sept. 26 -- Incessant rain induced by a deep depression generated over the Bay of Bengal has battered parts of Jharkhand, West Bengal, along with other eastern regions, inundating low-lying areas, swelling rivers and causing landslides, with one person dead in a rain-related incident. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) statement on September 25, following a landfall on September 23, the deep depression weakened further into a standard depression as it travelled inland.
