India, Sept. 2 -- The overhaul of the East Potomac Golf Links at East Potomac Park in Washington D.C. is a dream project of President Donald Trump. As the project takes shape, the felling of 100-year-old cherry blossom trees has raised concerns.

A grove of cherry trees, gifted to the United States by Japan between 1909 and 1912, was planted at the southern end of the Hains Point at East Potomac Park. An explosive report by the Washington Post recently documented how the National Park Service (NPS) is allegedly felling trees at the park, including one of the cherry trees from the Japanese-gifted grove.
