Hoshiarpur, July 7 -- A pack of stray dogs mauled a four-year-old girl to death in Tanda, Hoshiarpur, on Sunday evening. Identified as Gungun, the victim was the daughter of a migrant couple, Ram Jeevan and Preeti, hailing from Dhyanpur village in Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur Kheri district, police said.

The couple, along with other labourers, was busy with paddy transplantation work in Bassi Jalal village when they left the girl under the shade of a tree about 100 metres away. Meanwhile, six or seven stray dogs attacked the girl and dragged her to some distance, leaving her critically injured. Hearing her cries, the labourers rushed to rescue her.
