Rohtak, Sept. 24 -- A local court in Hisar on Wednesday sentenced a man to 20 years in prison and imposed a fine of Rs.1.05 lakh for raping a minor girl after taking her from her village to Chandigarh.

Additional district and sessions judge Sunil Jindal pronounced the sentence after finding the accused, who is from Hisar, guilty under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

According to the information, the Narnaund police had registered a case under the POCSO Act and other relevant provisions in 2022 on the complaint of the girl, who was studying in Class 11 at the time of the incident.
