PRAYAGRAJ, Sept. 10 -- The Allahabad high court on Wednesday came down heavily on the station house officer (SHO) of a police station in Deoria district and the concerned superintendent of police (SP). The court questioned them regarding the police station's CCTV system failure and the absence of footage in a case concerning the illegal detention of four petitioners for ten days.

The bench, comprising justice Atul Sreedharan and justice Divesh Chandra Samant, expressed its disappointment with the police officials' explanations regarding the CCTV cameras, the alleged breakdown of the system, and the missing recordings for the period of the alleged detention from April 13 to April 23, 2026.
