India, April 2 -- The Bombay High Court directed the Foreigner Regional Registration Office (FRRO) to decide the visa extension application of a Yemeni national within eight weeks, observing that the clearance has been pending for the last 12 years.

A division bench of justices Sarang V. Kotwal and Sandesh D. Patil noted that if the man is not permitted to reside in India, he would be separated from his family and might not see his children in the future. "The authorities will have to act within the confines of the law, with humanitarian grounds as a background and decide his application," it said.

The case concerns Fahd Redhwan Abdullah Saeed, who married an Indian citizen, Harjinder Kaur, under the Special Marriage Act in May 2011. Th...
