HC allows Mamata-led TMC to hold Kolkata rally today
Kolkata, July 8 -- The Calcutta High Court on Tuesday allowed former West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) to hold a rally in south Kolkata on Wednesday, setting aside a police decision to disallow it, lawyers who attended the hearing said. "The single bench of justice Saugata Bhattacharya, however, directed that the rally will start from Ballygunge Phari, move along Hazra Road and end at Hazra four-point intersection. The TMC had originally planned to end the rally at Lansdowne Market," a lawyer said.
The court also changed the timings from 3 pm-6 pm to 2.30 pm-4.30 pm in view of rush hour traffic on weekdays. The rally is being organised in protest against the rape and murder of a 12-year-old girl at Sout...
