Karnal, Sept. 17 -- The Haryana Government has written to the Union government requesting paddy procurement for the kharif marketing season 2026-27 from September 20.

Usually, the season starts on October 1 but was advanced to September 22 last year following farmers' requests. Similarly this year, farmers sought early procurement for paddy and bajra.

In its communication to the Union ministry of consumer affairs, food and public distribution on Tuesday, the Haryana additional director (procurement) said that as per the schedule already conveyed to them, the procurement period for paddy in Haryana has been fixed from October 1 to November 15.
