India, Aug. 15 -- The Parsi community celebrates their New Year, also known as Navroz, Jamshedi Navroz, or Nowruz, on August 15. This is according to the Shahenshahi calendar. The term for the Parsi New Year, Navroz, comes from Nav, meaning new and Roz, meaning a day, which marks a new day. The Parsi New Year also coincides with August 15, which marks India's Independence Day.

There are several festivities which include cleaning and decorating homes, offering prayers at the fire temple (Agiary), and enjoying traditional Parsi delicacies such as Patra ni Machhi, Sali Boti, Berry Pulao, Prawn Patio, and Falooda.
