Gulveer wins 5,000m bronze after claiming 10,000m silver
New Delhi, Aug. 2 -- Gulveer Singh followed upon his 10000m silver with a clinical bronze in the 5000m to cap a memorable Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on Saturday. The 28-year-old Armyman clocked 13 minutes, 24.95 seconds to become the first Indian to win two athletics medals in a single edition of CWG. The medal also made him only the second Indian to win the 5000m race in CWG, after Hari Chand's bronze in Edmonton 1978.
Running a supremely tactical race, Gulveer kept himself in the leading group for much of the race and pushed himself into the medal bracket with a perfectly-timed finishing kick in the final 200m.
