Gujarat SMC arrests 13, detains MP-based key suspect for toxic liquor that killed 7
Ahmedabad, Aug. 20 -- Gujarat's state monitoring cell (SMS) on Thursday said it has arrested 13 people and detained a suspected ringleader in neighbouring Madhya Pradesh in connection with the death of seven people due to spurious liquor in Bhavnagar.
Among the seven dead is Narendra Singh Yadav, alias Doctor, who came from Madhya Pradesh to blend the lethal concoction and succumbed to his own product.
Bhavnagar collector Manish Bansal said 32 people were undergoing treatment at hospitals and nine others had been discharged.
Mayur Chavda, superintendent of police (SP) at SMC, a specialised unit mandated to enforce prohibition in Gujarat, said Raees had been detained in Madhya Pradesh's Ujjain and was being brought to Gujarat.
