Gujarat most investment friendly
New Delhi, July 18 -- Gujarat has emerged at the top in NITI Aayog's first Investment Friendliness Index for states and Union Territories released on Friday, followed by Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Goa and Odisha, in a new benchmarking tool the government says is meant to foster "competitive cooperative federalism" and push states to learn from each other's reforms.
"Industrial parks such as Sanand, Dholera SIR and GIFT City offer plug-and-play infrastructure," read one investor assessment cited in the report, though some respondents flagged concerns about the upkeep of state-run ports compared with privately run facilities in the state. Gujarat has an overall score of 56.6 in the Index.
