LUCKNOW, April 1 -- A 29-year-old Government Railway Police (GRP) constable lost both his legs after being run over by a train while trying to stop a theft suspect fleeing custody at Gonda railway station shortly after midnight on Tuesday. The injured constable, Akash Singh, fell into the gap between the platform and the moving Dibrugarh-Chandigarh Express, officials said on Wednesday. Despite suffering grievous injuries, he managed to overpower the suspect, Sunil Kumar, 35, and held him until other policemen reached the spot.
