New Delhi, Sept. 21 -- August 2026 was one of the hottest month in recorded history. And it wasn't just Celsius-based heat. It was wet-bulb heat, where the recorded temperature may not be in the late 40s but involves the deadly combination of about 30-plus degrees and high humidity. Wet-bulb scenarios can kill because the body cannot sweat to cool itself when it is already too humid outside. All over South and Southeast Asia, we struggle with heat and wet bulb stress.
