India, Aug. 11 -- Three men disguised as police officers allegedly extorted Rs.29 lakh from a 40-year-old consultant in Greater Noida after abducting and threatening him with an encounter, officials said on Monday, adding five teams have been formed to nab the suspects.

According to police, the victim, Sandeep Kumar, a resident of a high-rise in Sector 1, Greater Noida West, alleged that the incident took place on July 20. But he was initially reluctant to file an official complaint.

Based on his complaint, a case of wrongful confinement, criminal intimidation, and extortion has been registered at the Sector 1 police station.
