Goyal launches talks for India-GCC pact
New Delhi, Feb. 25 -- After concluding nine free trade agreements since 2021, India is expanding its trade push. On Tuesday, commerce minister Piyush Goyal launched negotiations for an India-GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) pact, hosted Israeli negotiators in New Delhi for first round of talks, advanced discussions with Canada and said talks with Chile were nearing completion.
"Delighted to welcome H.E. Jasem Mohammad Al Budaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council. We signed the Joint Statement for the India-GCC FTA, building on the Terms of Reference signed on February 5, 2026, formally launching negotiations for a comprehensive and mutually beneficial agreement," the minister said in a post on X.
