Govt to bridge funding gap forchip startups
New Delhi, July 17 -- The Centre will remain an investor in semiconductor startups until they begin generating revenue under the second edition of the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM 2.0), marking a significant shift in the government's strategy to help chip companies survive the long and capital-intensive process of developing commercial products.
The new policy is designed to bridge what the semiconductor industry describes as the "valley of death" - the period after a startup has demonstrated its technology but before it begins earning revenue, when raising fresh capital is often most difficult.
