Govt orders ILS Law College to refund rRs.r1.4 lakh in 'unauthorised' fees with 6% interest
India, Sept. 4 -- The higher education department has directed ILS Law College, Pune, to refund Rs.1,04,863 collected from a student as additional fees during the academic years 2020-21, 2021-22 and 2024-25, along with 6% annual interest from the respective dates of payment until the amount is refunded.
The order was issued on September 2 by Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil after the matter was reconsidered at the state government level following proceedings before the Bombay High Court.
According to the order, the college had not obtained prior approval from Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) under Section 101(7) of the Maharashtra Public Universities Act, 2016, for the additional fees collected from stude...
