India, Sept. 25 -- One person was killed, and two others suffered burn injuries after a transformer exploded during repair in Nehru Nagar on Wednesday, police said on Thursday.

Police identified the deceased as Niyalbul Hasan, 35, a native of Moradabad and resident of Ghaziabad. The injured were Ghaziabad's Harivansh Nagar resident Deepak Sharma, 50, and Moradabad resident Mohammad Ikrar, 30.

Police said several workers, including contractual workers from the electricity department and a private contractor, had gone to repair electrical equipment on the transformer installed at the premises of a private company near Bhatia Morh in Nehru Nagar.
