India, Sept. 29 -- India's external relations are generally amicable with countries except its immediate neighbours with which it has had military conflicts in the past. On this count, the deterioration in ties with Canada - the optics were perhaps the worst during the 2023 G20 Summit in Delhi - was an exception of sorts. The then Canadian government's attitude toward the bilateral relationship was driven by hopes of partisan gain in domestic politics. Recent developments in Canadian politics have not favoured those invested in such beliefs.
