Four-day ban on political activities on COEP campus
India, Aug. 23 -- Pune city police have imposed prohibitory orders at COEP Technological University and its hostel premises in Shivajinagar, banning political activities and gatherings for four days following a clash between members of the ABVP and NSUI.
Deputy commissioner of police Prashant Amrutkar issued the order on Saturday under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), a day after an incident at the university hostel.
According to the order, there was a possibility of outsiders, political party leaders and workers entering the campus, interacting with students, holding meetings, raising slogans, organising protests or demonstrations and mobilising crowds in connection with the incident.
