New Delhi, Aug. 12 -- With the second phase of Census 2027, population enumeration or PE, is set to begin in Ladakh and snow-bound non-synchronous areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, the registrar general of India (RGI) has issued directions for formation of enumeration blocks (EBs) - the micro-units of 800 individuals that serve as the foundation for the country's population headcount.
In a circular issued to all the directors of census operations (DCOs) and nodal officers in states/union territories, the RGI, Mrityunjay Kumar Narayan, has said that these EBs will be created on the basis of houselisting blocks (HLBs) mapped during the first phase of the Census with a threshold population of 800 individuals. htc
