Five-time MLA D Jayakumar seeks comeback from Royapuram after 2021 defeat, trails in tight contest
India, May 4 -- D Jayakumar is a prominent political leader and a senior member of AIADMK. He was elected to the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly from Royapuram constituency as an Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate in the 1991, 2001, 2006, 2011, and 2016 elections.
In the 2026 Assembly elections, Jayakumar is once again contesting from the Royapuram constituency, where he has won 5 times.
KV Vijay Damu of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam is leading, while Dr. A Subair Khan of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam is trailing with 23,385 votes, behind by 11,340 votes.
D Jayakumar of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam is further behind with 11,508 votes, trailing by 23,217 votes.
