Five Indians on board tanker hit near Strait
Mumbai, Aug. 9 -- A projectile reportedly struck a Liberian-flagged crude oil tanker MT FRANCE C with five Indian sailors on board on Saturday after it crossed the Strait of Hormuz while proceeding west-outbound.
All 5 Indians on board have been confirmed to be safe.
A report by the Directorate of Maritime Administration said that four incidents involving Indian-flagged vessels and 35 incidents involving foreign-flagged vessels with Indian crew were reported during the West Asia conflict so far, including 9 confirmed fatalities, 10 injured and one presumed dead.
Seven Indian vessels are currently in Persian Gulf (West of Strait of Hormuz), with 153 Indian seafarers on board, it said.
