Varanasi, June 24 -- : Five people have been arrested for allegedly cooking non-vegetarian food on a boat in the middle of the Ganga under the Dashashwamedh police station area, police said on Tuesday.

The action was taken after a video showing a group of people cooking and partying on a boat in the river surfaced on social media on Monday evening and quickly went viral.

Assistant commissioner of police (Dashashwamedh) Atul Anjan Tripathi said the police immediately examined the video and launched an investigation. The inquiry confirmed that the video was genuine.
