Expelled TMC leader Ritabrata Banerjee chosen Bengal LoP, has support of 58 MLAs
India, June 3 -- Expelled TMC leader Ritabrata Banerjee was on Wednesday appointed leader of the opposition (LoP) in the West Bengal Assembly after claiming the support of 58 of the 80 MLAs elected in the recently concluded polls.
The West Bengal speaker has accepted a letter signed by the 58 MLAs. Two other MLAs are also part of the group, but they are currently outside the state.
Javed Khan, Sandeepan Saha, Sabina Yasmin and Shiuli Saha have been appointed deputy leaders of the TMC legislature party, he said.
At a press conference, Ritabrata Banerjee said the party still considers TMC supremo and former chief minister Mamata Banerjee as its leader.
This is a developing story. More details awaited.
