Erling Haaland hits 300 goals at 26, and one comparison with Messi and Ronaldo makes the achievement look even crazier
India, Sept. 6 -- Erling Haaland has spent much of his career turning extraordinary numbers into ordinary news. Another hat-trick, another scoring record, another landmark reached before most of his contemporaries. Yet his latest milestone offers perhaps the clearest measure yet of just how abnormal his goalscoring career has been.
Haaland's header against Coventry City on Saturday took him to 300 top-level club goals. It arrived in his 368th appearance under the methodology used by Sofascore, which counts matches in top-flight domestic leagues, national cups and international club competitions.
Put 300 beside 368, and the number already looks ridiculous: 0.82 goals per appearance over a sample stretching across Norway, Austria, Germany...
