PRAYAGRAJ, Aug. 2 -- The Allahabad high court ordered officials to ensure that two sisters allegedly confined illegally by their father after having voluntarily renounced Hinduism to embrace Islam were produced in court on August 6, and noted that the women were competent to consider life choices. The bench of justice Sandeep Jain recently noted that any interference by anyone, including their father, would amount to an unwarranted encroachment upon their constitutionally- protected rights to dignity, privacy and personal liberty. The hearing concerned a petition filed on behalf on the two sisters- identified as Divya Bhatia alias Zoya Diya Bhatia (20), and Anshu Bhatia alias Amina Anshu Bhatia (35).
